UNK names Jesslyn Hollar dean of College of Education

The University of Nebraska at Kearney has selected Dr. Jesslyn Hollar to serve as the next dean of its College of Education. Hollar, who has been serving in an interim role, will take over the position permanently following a national search.

Dr. Hollar brings extensive experience in teacher training and academic leadership to the role. She has worked closely with faculty to strengthen curriculum and improve outcomes for students pursuing careers in education. University officials praised her ability to build partnerships with local school districts and her focus on preparing graduates for the classroom.

"Dr. Hollar brings a strong record of leadership in educator preparation and a clear commitment to student success," a university spokesperson said.

Hollar holds a doctorate in educational administration and has spent years working in both K-12 and higher education settings. Her appointment comes at a time when many colleges are rethinking how they train teachers to meet evolving classroom demands. She is expected to focus on expanding clinical experiences for students and increasing enrollment in the college's programs.

The College of Education at UNK offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in teaching, counseling, and school administration. Hollar's tenure officially begins immediately.
