POTTSVILLE - The Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes' 2026 volleyball season has been a long, winding rollercoaster. The Hurricanes, the No. 3 seed in the District 11 Class AA playoffs, have overcome quite a bit of adversity to reach this point, and on Tuesday night they showed they are peaking at the right time.
Schuylkill Haven swept Executive Education in straight sets in the district semifinals, punching its ticket to the championship match. The Hurricanes controlled the tempo from the opening serve, leaning on steady passing and aggressive serving to keep Executive Education out of system. Set scores reflected that command, with Schuylkill Haven never allowing its opponent to string together a sustained run.
The win continues a remarkable turnaround for a group that weathered injuries and a demanding regular season schedule. Rather than folding when things got difficult, the Hurricanes tightened their rotation and found reliable production at the net. That growth was on full display in the semifinal, where Schuylkill Haven mixed timely kills with scrappy defense to close out each set.
With the sweep, the Hurricanes advance to the district final, where they will chase a championship that once seemed unlikely during the rougher stretches of the season. For now, the focus stays simple: keep the same energy, keep the same discipline, and keep the ride going.
