Park City Education Foundation celebrates its ruby anniversary

Park City Education Foundation celebrates its ruby anniversary

The Park City Education Foundation marked a major milestone this week, celebrating four decades of supporting local public schools. What started as a small volunteer effort in 1985 has grown into a key funding partner for the Park City School District, channeling millions of dollars into classrooms, teacher training, and student programs.

To honor the ruby anniversary, the foundation hosted an evening event at the Park City High School auditorium, drawing current and former educators, district officials, and longtime donors. Executive Director Sarah Hallock reflected on the organization's journey, noting that the first grant, a modest sum for art supplies, set the tone for what would become a lasting community commitment.

Over the years, the foundation has adapted to changing needs. It now funds everything from mental health counselors to STEM equipment and early literacy initiatives. In the past decade alone, it has distributed more than 8 million dollars in grants, with a significant boost from the annual Park City PEAK fundraiser, which has become a winter season staple.

Looking ahead, the foundation plans to focus on teacher retention and expanding access to career and technical education. Hallock emphasized that the work is far from done, especially as the district faces enrollment growth and budget pressures. The anniversary celebration, she said, was both a thank you to the community and a reminder of the work still ahead.
