CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The Wyoming Department of Transportation has rolled out a fresh set of education and outreach programs aimed at sparking interest in aviation. The new initiatives include a hands-on flight simulator experience and a passport-style activity designed to engage participants across the state.
The centerpiece of the launch is the flight simulator, which gives users a realistic taste of piloting an aircraft. Organizers hope the tool will attract students and adults alike to explore careers in aeronautics. Alongside the simulator, the department introduced a "passport" program. Participants can collect stamps or signatures by visiting various aviation-related sites or completing educational modules.
To sweeten the deal, those who complete the passport program will earn a bomber jacket. The jacket serves as both a reward and a symbol of achievement, tying into the heritage of aviation. Officials say the goal is to make learning about flight more interactive and memorable.
The programs target a wide audience, from school groups to hobbyists curious about the industry. By lowering the barrier to entry with accessible tools and tangible rewards, Wyoming hopes to build a stronger pipeline for future pilots, mechanics, and engineers. The department plans to roll out additional resources in the coming months, building on the momentum of the initial launch.
