Former Lyon County director of special education and Oldham County’s Exceptional Children Services Program receive 2026 Grissom Award

A former director of special education from Lyon County has been recognized for her work improving services for students with disabilities. Miranda B. Reed, who previously led the district's special education programs, was named one of two recipients of the 2026 Grissom Award for Innovation in Special Education. The award was presented during a meeting of the Kentucky Board of Education.

Reed was recognized alongside a representative from Oldham County's Exceptional Children Services Program. The Grissom Award is given annually to educators or programs that demonstrate creative and effective approaches to supporting students with special needs.
