The department of education at Valparaiso University has officially relocated to Loke Hall, marking a significant shift for the program after years of operating across multiple buildings on campus.
Previously housed in both Wesemann Hall and Meier Hall, the department made the move possible through a grant that supported the transition. The consolidation brings faculty, staff, and students together under one roof, a change administrators say will improve collaboration and streamline daily operations.
The new location offers the department a dedicated space that better reflects the size and scope of its programs. Faculty members now have access to shared resources and meeting areas designed to support planning and student advising. For students, the move means easier access to professors and staff who were once spread across separate facilities.
University officials described the relocation as a practical step forward, noting that bringing the department into a single building reduces logistical challenges and creates a stronger sense of community among those who study and work there. The grant funding covered costs associated with the move, including setup and necessary adjustments to the new space.
Classes and office hours are now running in Loke Hall, and the department expects the centralized location to support continued growth in enrollment and programming. Staff members have spent the early weeks of the semester settling in and helping students navigate the new space. The department plans to make further use of the building's resources as the academic year progresses.
