Gilbert Arts Academy is rolling out a redesigned educational model when students return for the new school year. The revamped curriculum blends traditional arts instruction with modern technology, introducing robotics and drone piloting as core components of the learning experience.
School officials say the changes aim to prepare students for a future where creativity and technical skills go hand in hand. Younger students will work with basic coding and simple robot kits, while older students will learn to program and fly drones as part of project-based lessons. The expanded arts side includes new classes in digital media, graphic design, and performance production.
Teachers have spent the summer training on the new equipment and lesson plans. The academy expects the hands-on approach to keep students engaged and build problem-solving skills. Parents were briefed on the changes during a series of open houses last month.
One instructor noted that combining art with technology mirrors real-world careers in fields like animation, game design, and engineering. The school plans to showcase student projects at a community event later this fall.
