OKLAHOMA CITY – Four students from Southeastern Oklahoma State University made their way to the State Capitol on Tuesday to take part in Higher Education Day and Oklahoma’s Promise Day. The group, consisting of Jill Scott, Cora McKinney, Jacee Bentley, and Kaysun Thralls, engaged with lawmakers and advocated for the importance of higher education funding and support for students across the state.
The event served as a platform for students to voice their concerns and share personal stories about how educational programs have impacted their lives. Participants emphasized the significance of Oklahoma’s Promise, a program designed to provide financial assistance to students from low- and moderate-income families, making college more accessible.
The students also had the opportunity to meet with various state representatives, discussing the challenges faced by current and prospective students. Their participation highlights the vital role that student advocacy plays in shaping educational policies and ensuring that future generations have the resources they need to succeed.
