Former First Lady Melania Trump has announced a new partnership aimed at improving educational opportunities for children in the foster care system. The initiative, called Fostering the Future, will bring together IndyCar, Fox Corporation, and several major universities to provide resources, mentorship, and academic support.
The announcement was made during a private event in Washington, D.C., where Trump emphasized the need for stability and encouragement for young people who often face significant disruptions in their schooling. "Every child deserves a path forward, no matter their circumstances," she said in her remarks. "This alliance is about giving foster youth the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond."
The program will focus on three main areas: STEM education, college readiness, and career exploration. IndyCar will offer hands-on engineering and technology workshops, while Fox will provide media training and internship opportunities. Participating universities will create scholarship pipelines and on-campus mentoring programs specifically for foster youth.
Organizers say the goal is to reach thousands of students over the next few years, starting with pilot programs in Indiana, Ohio, and Texas. Local child welfare agencies will work with schools to identify participants and ensure they have the necessary support, including transportation and tutoring.
Trump has long been an advocate for children's issues, and this marks her most significant policy push since leaving the White House. The alliance is expected to release a detailed curriculum and schedule of events in the coming months.
