Learning Systems Institute at FSU chosen to collaborate on U.S. Department of State-funded Early Grade Education Activity in Jordan

The Learning Systems Institute (LSI) at Florida State University has been chosen to partner with IREX and other organizations on a new education initiative in Jordan. The project, funded by the U.S. Department of State, focuses on improving early grade education across the country.

This collaboration aims to strengthen reading and math instruction for young students in Jordanian primary schools. LSI will contribute its expertise in curriculum development, teacher training, and educational assessment. The institute has a long history of working on international education projects, particularly in regions facing complex educational challenges.

The Early Grade Education Activity is designed to support Jordan's national education reform efforts. It will work directly with teachers, school administrators, and local education officials to improve classroom instruction and learning outcomes. The program emphasizes evidence-based teaching methods and sustainable practices that can continue after the project ends.

LSI's role will include developing training materials, conducting workshops for educators, and helping to measure student progress. The institute's researchers will also study which teaching strategies work best in the Jordanian context, sharing those findings to inform future education policies.

This project builds on FSU's broader commitment to global education development. For decades, the university has sent experts to countries around the world to help strengthen their education systems. The work in Jordan represents another step in that ongoing effort, with the potential to impact thousands of young students and their teachers.
