Junior Achievement of Northeastern Pennsylvania has secured a $15,000 grant from the First Federal Charitable Foundation. The funding will be used to expand two key educational initiatives: the YES! (Your Economic Success) program and the JA Inspire Career Discovery Experience, both aimed at middle school students.
The YES! program focuses on teaching financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship. It helps young people understand how to manage money, explore career paths, and develop skills for the modern job market. The JA Inspire Career Discovery Experience, meanwhile, gives students a hands-on look at various industries through interactive exhibits and direct conversations with local professionals.
Officials from Junior Achievement said the grant will allow them to reach more students across the region, especially those in underserved communities. The programs are designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world career opportunities. By exposing students to different professions early, the organization hopes to spark interest in high-demand fields and encourage further education or training after high school.
The First Federal Charitable Foundation has a history of supporting education and workforce development in the area. This latest grant aligns with its mission to invest in programs that prepare young people for long-term success. Junior Achievement plans to roll out the expanded programming over the next school year, with a focus on interactive workshops and career exploration events.
