A grassroots organization born from local parents and residents in Lancaster County has taken a formal step into electoral politics. The group, known as Public Education Advocates of Lancaster, announced the creation of a political action committee aimed at influencing the 2027 elections.
Originally formed to push back against book bans, school voucher programs, and gender-based discrimination in schools, the group has now shifted its focus to direct political action. The new PAC will allow the organization to raise money and endorse candidates who align with its mission of protecting public education.
The decision to form a PAC comes as debates over school policies intensify across the county. Members cited frustration with what they see as growing political interference in local classrooms. The group plans to support candidates for school board and other local offices who prioritize inclusive curriculum, adequate funding for public schools, and protections for LGBTQ+ students and staff.
By organizing ahead of the 2027 cycle, the group hopes to build momentum and give voters a clear choice. Organizers emphasized that their goal is not just to oppose certain policies but to actively elect leaders who will defend the integrity of public education. The PAC will begin recruiting candidates and hosting community forums in the coming months.
