Eastern Oregon University’s GO STEM Program Wins Statewide Agricultural Education Award

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon University's Greater Oregon STEM Hub, known as EOU GO STEM, has been awarded first place in the 14th annual Oregon Ag Fest Agricultural Education Awards. The recognition comes for the program's innovative Artificial Intelligence and Agriculture (AI + AG) initiative, which blends modern technology with traditional farming practices.

The award highlights the program's success in introducing students to the practical applications of artificial intelligence in agriculture. Through hands-on projects and workshops, participants learn how AI can improve crop yields, manage resources, and solve real-world problems on farms. The curriculum is designed to prepare the next generation of agricultural workers for a rapidly changing industry.

Organizers of the Oregon Ag Fest praised the program for its creativity and direct impact on rural education. The AI + AG program reaches students across multiple counties in eastern Oregon, an area where agriculture remains a cornerstone of the local economy. By connecting STEM learning with agricultural challenges, the program helps bridge the gap between classroom theory and field work.

EOU GO STEM leaders expressed pride in the award, noting that it reflects the hard work of educators and community partners. The program continues to expand, offering new opportunities for students to explore careers at the intersection of technology and farming. This statewide recognition underscores the growing importance of innovative education in sustaining Oregon's agricultural heritage.
