Born in Korea to parents Sa Op and Robert Kocher, Dr. Elizabeth Kocher-Bentz has built a life and career rooted in the Eastern philosophies of her native land. She says that being born in Korea and growing up there continues to shape how she lives today. In her view, Eastern approaches differ greatly from Western ones, and that contrast has guided much of her thinking.
Her father's influence and her early years abroad gave her a foundation that later merged with her professional training. Over time, she found that yoga, education and healing were not separate pursuits but connected parts of the same calling. Teaching became a way to share what she had learned, while yoga offered a practice that supported both body and mind. Healing, in her approach, grows from that combination of discipline, reflection and care for others.
Kocher-Bentz now works at the intersection of these fields, helping people find balance through movement, learning and personal growth. Her story shows how roots in one culture can inform a career built somewhere else, and how a single path can hold several vocations at once. For her, the journey continues to unfold through service, study and the steady practice of showing up for others.
