Board of Education: Akshay Pujara

Parsippany Focus submitted identical questions to each candidate running for the Parsippany Board of Education. All answers are printed exactly as received.

When asked how many Parsippany Board of Education meetings he had attended in person during the past 12 months and what he learned from the experience, Akshay Pujara said he attended five meetings over that period.

Pujara said those sessions gave him a closer look at how the district operates and how decisions move from discussion to a vote. He noted that watching the board in action helped him understand the budget process, the pressure points around staffing, and the way community feedback shapes priorities. Attending in person, he added, offered a clearer sense of the tone and pace of the meetings than reading summaries afterward.

He pointed to specific moments that stood out, including debates over spending and questions raised by residents about classroom resources. Those exchanges, he said, showed him that board members have to balance competing needs while keeping the focus on students.

Pujara is one of several candidates seeking a seat on the board. His full response to this question and others will appear as part of the ongoing candidate coverage.
