The Bend-La Pine Education Foundation is distributing $99,400 in classroom enrichment grants to K-12 public schools throughout the district this fall. The funding aims to back hands-on, experiential and project-based learning across subjects such as STEM, art, music and wellness.
The grants give teachers a chance to bring ideas to life that fall outside standard school budgets. Projects often include robotics kits, art supplies, outdoor learning tools and health programs. Each proposal comes from educators who see a direct need in their classrooms.
Since 1988, the foundation has invested more than $3 million in local schools. That long record shows steady community support for creative teaching. The money comes from donations and fundraising efforts, not from tax dollars.
This round of grants will reach students at multiple grade levels. Foundation leaders say the goal is simple: help teachers turn good ideas into real learning experiences. Schools across the district will use the funds in the coming months.
