Austin’s Del Valle ISD Education Foundation wins F1® Allwyn Global Community Award to catalyse STEM career pathways for 12,000 students

The Del Valle ISD Education Foundation has been named the winner of the F1 Allwyn Global Community Award, a recognition that comes with funding intended to strengthen science, technology, engineering and math education across the Central Texas district. The announcement places the foundation among a small group of organizations worldwide honored for community impact, and district leaders say the prize will directly support efforts to prepare students for careers in high-demand technical fields.

The award will help the foundation build and expand programs that connect classroom learning to real-world applications, including hands-on engineering projects, career exploration events and partnerships with local employers. Organizers estimate the initiative will reach roughly 12,000 students across the district, many of whom attend schools serving predominantly low-income families. The goal is to create clearer pathways from elementary school through high school and into postsecondary training or college, with an emphasis on groups historically underrepresented in STEM fields.

Foundation officials said the recognition validates years of work to close opportunity gaps in a fast-growing region. The funding is expected to support teacher training, classroom materials and student participation in competitions and internships. Community partners, including businesses and higher education institutions, will play a role in mentoring students and offering site visits. District leaders noted that exposure to STEM careers at an early age can shape course selection and graduation plans, and they hope the program will become a model for other districts in the region. The foundation plans to begin rolling out expanded programming during the current school year, with progress measured through student participation and feedback from teachers and families.
